THE BUILDING

On the ground floor a connection has been sought with the existing facilities and space. In doing so a large space evolves in which various parts of the programme (stage, music rooms, kitchen, reception) have been positioned like blobs. In order to create great spatial quality, these have been kept as free from the ceiling as possible. The new, large auditorium is located on the ground floor of the new extension and can be divided into an area for the junior school and one for the senior school. A large open space leading to the upper floors, whereby the core is formed by study areas and booths, also contributes to the spatial appearance of the plan. Big open stairwells will be placed in the open space for the benefit of vertical traffic.

Most of the existing auditorium has been transformed into a lounge area for pupils, a large central staffroom and a number of boardrooms. The administrative department and ICT are situated nearby.
