Wiekslag III

The Wiekslag III is a residential care complex in Baarn. In the framework of small-scale housing, two clusters of homes for psycho geriatric care have been situated on the ground floor. In addition there are also 16 apartments in the building, spread over the first and second floors. The departure point of the design is the aim to integrate care as much as possible into the estate.

The atrium at the heart of the building can be used by the ground floor residents as an inner garden, which can also be seen from the upper floors due to the open space. The building therefore looks like an apartment building with meticulous brick details with, among other things, staggered brickwork and alternating stone courses. In contrast to the brickwork of the accommodations, the reflective steel slats indicate other areas such as the entrance and communal spaces.
