Situated on the outskirts of the town centre of Haarlem is the Tempelierstraat, a street where public transport traditionally plays an important role. The last tram that travelled from Haarlem to Zandvoort, the blue tram, stopped here. The shop front is set back from the existing bus stop in order to give shoppers enough room. In time, the bus stop will be moved to a nearby square making it possible to range the shop front with the street. A gable in the middle defines the entrance to the apartments. The building is very appropriately called ‘The Blue Tram’. In accordance with Haarlem tradition, the building has been provided with a memorial tablet on which there is a picture of the blue tram.
